I guess mine? She's from my world at least. This is Kitty, my group found her out in the Silent World. She's been really helpful too, we hadn't brought a cat with us on our expedition.
[Kitty makes a blep face in response to the scritches. She is an easy cat to please.]
[Taking the kitty back! And she'll step aside too, so Lavi can come in.]
All cats can, actually! But they do get training in how to communicate it better to humans. Right now Kitty just gets scared and hisses, but if she goes through a training program she'll be able to lead us right to any trolls she smells.
Anyway she will close the door so she can let Kitty down without her hopping away out the door. Kitty is immediately back at the door meowing at it.]
Yeah! It's Hana. We get along pretty well already, so I think this is going to turn out alright for us. Though I think I would have gotten along with most people here.
[Things she is not saying: there are some people she would not have gotten along with at all.]
Oh, Popcorn! He looks very cute, hopefully he's a good roommate.
[Tuuri out here loving all these pets. But she does go 'ehe' at that compliment.]
It helps that pretty much everyone here is agreeable. Some are quiet, but I haven't really spoken to anyone who is purposefully mean. Just...some strange people, that's all.
Not quite a poet, or at least I've never written poetry. The work Skalds do is more about preserving knowledge and making sure the Old World isn't lost to time. Most of the time it's just transcribing old books that are close to crumbling away, but sometimes we get to go out and record information ourselves!
[It's clear which part of the job Tuuri likes more.]
But everyone calls us nerds who get buried in books too much. It's not anywhere close to 'cool' or 'mysterious'.
[he smiles at that, he figured tuuri would definitely have read his profile. Because he absolutely would have to. Is it too soon to think that they're similar? Probably, and yet]
It's similar.
"The Bookman are a clan dedicated to recording history in its truest form. For that purpose, the Bookman is sent to observe the parts hidden from the rest of the world." We preserve history from books too, though we also have to see it with our own eyes.
[Tuuri has read ALL the profiles, she wants to know about the others in hell.]
That sounds so much more fun than just copying books down. I wasn't able to go out into the world until just recently. I've been stuck at desks for most of my working life!

...and a small 5-month-old kitten in a party hat darts out the door. Catch her, Lavi!]
Nooo! Don't run away, Kitty!

Lavi immediately bends down and scoops her up,]

Thank you, I didn't expect her to bolt like that. I guess she still wants to explore this place.
no subject
Is she yours or your roommate's? Mine's got a pet too.

[Kitty makes a blep face in response to the scritches. She is an easy cat to please.]

Yeah? I bet she's a pretty good tracker. Can she sniff out Trolls?

So she's got a career in the making, huh. [or not, since they're in hell.... neatly ignores that,]
You meet your roommate yet?

How about you?
no subject
[why did so many pets commit crimes.... he flashes Tuuri and amused look though,]
I think it'd take a lot for you not to get along with someone.
[tuuri's so nice... he's fond of her already]

I'd ask you who, but I guess it isn't nice to gossip........
[he's looking at her, expectantly! intently!]
no subject
Well...there's this one guy, I don't know if you've seen him yet or not. He's got red hair and an eyepatch and it seems really mysterious!
no subject
I'm not that mysterious, am I? And here I thought I was being friendly.
no subject
[Tuuri out here assuming Lavi has the same job as her.]
no subject
You mentioned that before -- skald means... poet? What kind of reputation do they get?
no subject
[It's clear which part of the job Tuuri likes more.]
But everyone calls us nerds who get buried in books too much. It's not anywhere close to 'cool' or 'mysterious'.
no subject
he IS a skald when she puts it like that...]
Sounds pretty cool to me. History's a part of us all, even if lots of people don't think that way. And not just anyone can preserve it.
no subject
[She is absolutely a nerd, but she likes Lavi more now because he's agreeing with her.]
I figured 'Bookman' was another name for Skald, when I saw your page on the little rectangle device.

It's similar.

Doesn't fit at all -- you with a desk job. M'glad you get to see it all with your own eyes. The good, and even the bad.
no subject
[She trails off there, and she glances away with a gaze that looks a little on the regretful side.]
I just wish I'd had more time to enjoy it.
no subject
Yeah... Me too.
[...then he leans to the side, knocking her shoulder with his,]
That's history for ya. No matter how much we want to be a part of it -- it'll eventually move on, with or without us.
